OCCHI FILO is a handcrafted accessories practice founded by Diana Bendocchi, born at the intersection of art, craft, and material research. The project emerged during her studies in architecture and design, first developed at FAUl (Faculdade de Arquitetura da Universidade de Lisboa), where the foundations of spatial thinking, form, and human perception were laid, and later deepened at the Politecnico di Milano, where the study of material culture, contemporary craft, and the philosophy of making shaped the practice into its current form.
The Inspiration: Eyes as Kaleidoscopes
The name Occhi Filo; Italian for "Eyes, Thread" is not merely a poetic choice. It is a philosophical declaration.
The project was born from a specific way of seeing: the kaleidoscopic gaze. Rooted in the phenomenology of Maurice Merleau-Ponty, particularly his understanding that perception is never singular or static, that the body does not observe the world from outside it, but lives it from within. Diana developed a vision in which looking itself becomes a transformative act.
To see like a kaleidoscope is to understand that the same fragment of reality can compose infinite patterns. It is the refusal of a single interpretation. It is the belief that beauty, meaning, and form are always in motion, always multiple, always shifting... depending on the angle, the light, the touch, the moment.
This philosophy became the structural logic of every OCCHI FILO piece: no two are identical, not because of accident, but because no two gazes are the same.
OCCHI FILO is not a brand. It is a body of work shaped by passion, patience, and presence.
